  Personal profile

Dr. Sinang Hongsanan, a Thai female, earned her Ph.D. from the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research at Mae Fah Luang University in 2016. She continued her research at the same center as a researcher until 2018. From 2018 to 2022, she pursued postdoctoral research at the College of Life Science and Oceanography, Shenzhen University. She then worked as a researcher at the Center of Excellence in Microbial Diversity and Sustainable Utilization at Chiang Mai University. In December 2023, she began her role as an assistant professor at the College of Life Sciences and Oceanography, Shenzhen University.

Dr. Hongsanan has conducted extensive research on fungal diversity and molecular evolution, estimating divergence times within higher-level classifications and exploring genetic adaptation mechanisms in Ascomycota fungi. She has also completed the revision and reorganization of the family and order Dothidomycetes. Additionally, her research includes studying the role of fungi in enhancing plant growth. Based at Shenzhen University, Dr. Hongsanan has successfully applied for and secured 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects. Dr. Sinang Hongsanan has presided over 3 Shenzhen University-level projects, including 1 Category C project of the Shenzhen University 2035 Excellence Pursuit Research Program. In 2024, she was honored with the “Young IMA Award - Keisuke Tubaki Medal” by the International Mycological Association (IMA), and in 2023, she received the “Young Asian Mycologist Award” from the Asian Mycological Association (AMA). From 2021 to 2024, she was ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists. Dr. Hongsanan also serves on the editorial boards of multiple international SCI journals and has been a guest editor for several prestigious international publications.
